About My Mascot

Right now I’m trying to write about my character’s story… oh! You probably don’t know much about her, do you? The character you see everywhere in this studio is actually my persona, and her name is Cherri (funny coincidence, I know). Her name is based off cherry blossom trees, which I love so much that I decided to build her around that, and it actually connects to the story I’m making for her too. I just think it’s kind of funny how she started as this tiny idea, and somehow turned into my whole brand.

I have other characters too, which are all a part of a story I'm making. Here, read more about them!

My Characters

Cherri Lyn

SIGNIFICANT ITEM:
~For herself: A black butterfly.
- A black butterfly represents rebirth, and for Cherri, it symbolizes that she needs to change her life. It’s a small sign that she has to start doing things differently than she is now, connecting directly to her goal in life. It shows that art isn't the only thing she's meant for, that she needs to shift her outlook on life and step out of her small little world.

ABOUT CHERRI:
~Cherri is a kind but socially awkward girl, lost in her own world. Her creativity through drawing is one of her greatest strengths, finding comfort in it as art doesn't judge her. She's able to express herself without fear of judgement from others through her drawings, but there is a downfall to this. She focuses so much on her art that she's barely developed any other skills, such as the school basics, health, and things that someone would need to use in life, and this is one of the reasons people so often push her away. She's seen as this socially inept person, making people distance themselves from her since they can't seem to understand her, or they judge her based on their outside perspective, and this is what causes Cherri to not have many friends and cling even more to her own little world.

~Her personality traits:
❍ Creative - Art is the main way she understands things, and how she expresses herself.

❍ Socially inept - She struggles with social skills and cues, meaning it’s hard for her to connect with others.

❍ Withdrawn - She stays in her own little world, disassociating herself from reality to not face the hurtful truths of the world.

❍ Insecure - She feels as though she disappoints others and fails in everything except for art, which is why she clings so tightly to it.

~Her flaws:
❍ Cherri copes by escaping into her own little world, but this is one of her downfalls, causing her to refuse to confront real life problems, like her poor grades, confronting her neglect at home, or even failing friendships she has.

❍ She doesn’t stand up for herself, letting herself accept unfair treatment, like at home, school, ect…

❍ She struggles to understand her own emotions and also others emotions, making her misread someones tone, taking things too literally, causing tension in conversations, or even overact emotionally.

~Her goal:
❍ As the story progresses, she starts to question what her purpose is, and learning about other peoples struggles, goals, ect.. makes her question why she exists, wanting to figure out what her real purpose is to be on this earth. This also makes her slowly let go of her obsession for art, letting go of her fear that that’s the only thing she’s meant to do.

Ollie

SIGNIFICANT ITEM/ITEMS:
~A flower. This is a significant item in Ollie’s part of the story because her fear is about not being good enough for her parents, not being perfect enough in their eyes, not living up to their expectations, and, as you would put flowers on someones grave to say goodbye to them, this is how Ollie feels with her parents, like they could put those flowers on her grave at any moment, saying “goodbye” to her.

---

ABOUT OLLIE:
~Ollie is an intelligent, kind, and inquisitive girl. She has a love and passion for reading and writing, and because of this passion, she always seeks to learn new things through reading articles and such.

~Her personality traits:
❍ Empathetic
❍ Curious
❍ Idealistic

~Her flaws:
❍ Overly self-crticial
❍ Takes too much responsibility for others well-beings
❍ People pleasing

---

OLLIE’S FAMILY/BACKGROUND:
~Ollie’s immediate family consists of her Mother “ “, her father “ “, and her little sister “ “. Her parents are very strict on Ollie about what she wears, how she acts, how well she does in school, and ect… meaning they aren’t the most emotionally supportive, and this has caused Ollie to worry about being “perfect”.

~As she grows older she realizes this same treatment is slowly being put on her little sister, and Ollie doesn’t want her little sister to develop the same mindset she has, so she’s set a goal to protect her little sister from the treatment her parents have caused, and this has made Ollie want to help those around her receive the love she never received herself.

~This is one of the reasons she loves to learn new things, to learn about other people and the things they go through as well, and she hopes as she learns these new things she can change her mindset, and in turn helping change others mindsets as well.

Tris

SIGNIFICANT ITEM/ITEMS:
~A Violin.
- Tris tries to look her best, to be seen as “great” or be in the more popular crowd, and so she joins different activities, violin being one of those. The violin represents how careful she’s being to not let any of her weakness show, being so precise in everything she does, even willing to hurt others to not let her weakness show, but one wrong move and it’ll all spill out, like how a violin screeches when you make a mistake, then people would see how broken she truly was inside, and she never wants this again.

---

ABOUT TRIS:
~Tris is an emotionally guarded girl, hiding her vulnerabilities behind a tough and confident exterior to not let people see the scared and fearful girl that she truly is, and this is what drives her to act so outgoing, to not get hurt again.

~Tris struggles with resentment, seeing any sort of vulnerability as a weakness which was the cause her the bullying she received as a child, or that's how she would put it, and because of this mindset she distances herself from others that show any sort of vulnerability because this triggers that scared little girl inside of her to come out again. And so she often acts defensive or rude when people show their own vulnerabilities around her, only staying in the crowd that is looked good upon.

~Cherri reminds Tris of an old friend she used to have.

~As the story progress’s the personality traits that start to show:
❍ She starts to see vulnerability as a strength

~Her goal:
❍ In the beginning of the story she just wants to fit in, to be accepted, and to maintain her image so what happened in the past never happens again, but overtime, she learns what it truly means to love herself, to accept all of herself, including the vulnerabilities/flaws, and this makes her learn to love others as well.

---

TRIS’S FAMILY/BACKGROUND:
~ Because of what happened with Tris in school she doesn’t open up to her parents, she acts like this towards anyone, a sign of weakness then things will happen just like it did back in school, or at least that’s what Tris thinks. She also has an older sister that always seems to be doing extremely well that her parents are so proud of, and if she lets any sort of weakness out then she’ll fall behind her, she’ll disappoint her parents, and what she fears the most is to disappoint people with how weak she really is on the inside, which is what happened back in school.
